The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to terms with defenseman Hunter McDonald on a two-year, two-way/one-way contract with an average annual value of $912,500.
McDonald, 24, is coming off his second full season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He recorded six assists and 92 penalty minutes in 65 games during the 2025-26 season.
The 6-foot-4 defenseman also got his first taste of NHL action last season. McDonald made his NHL debut in the Flyers' regular-season finale against Montreal on April 14, where he picked up his first career NHL point and finished the game with a +3 rating.
The Flyers selected McDonald in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, and he has spent parts of the last three seasons with Lehigh Valley. In 147 career AHL games, he has recorded four goals and 23 assists for 27 points.
Before turning pro, McDonald played two seasons at Northeastern University. Now, he will continue his development in the Flyers organization under his new two-year contract.
