Pennsbury, Bensalem students earn JROTC leadership honors

The Washington Crossing Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented Outstanding Cadet medals, award bars and certificates to cadets in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) at two local high schools.

The cadets receiving the awards from Chapter First Vice President Michael Borish were Savannah Stevenson of the Air Force JROTC at Pennsbury High School on April 23 and Paolo Pincione of the Marine Corps JROTC at Bensalem High School on May 15.

These awards foster the principle of the “citizen-soldier” exemplified by the Minutemen of Revolutionary War days.  Recipients of the awards are selected for having a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing, and general excellence.

Captain Alden Patridge founded the ROTC program because his father, Samuel Partridge, a soldier in the Revolution, had concern for the newly created United States and its lack of a development resource for qualified military officers.
