Newtown Arts Company Brings Meredith Willson’s Miracle on 34th Street The Musical to the Stage Dec. 3–6

Is Santa Claus real? This December, Newtown Arts Company invites audiences to rediscover the magic of believing with Meredith Willson’s “Miracle on 34th Street The Musical,” running Dec. 3–6, at the historic Newtown Theatre.

Based on the 20th Century Fox motion picture of the same name, with a story by Valentine Davies and screenplay by George Seaton, this holiday classic features a book, music and lyrics by Meredith Willson. The heartwarming musical follows Doris Walker, a practical single mother determined to protect her six-year-old daughter Susan from romantic notions, and Fred Gailey, their charming neighbor, who tries to win Doris’s heart while introducing Susan to the magic of Santa Claus at Macy’s, where Doris works. But when Macy’s Santa may actually be the real Kris Kringle, a wave of love spreads across New York City, melting even the most cynical hearts.

Directed by Mary Liz Ivins, with music direction by Lee Milhous and choreography by Erin Ryan, the production is produced by Bonnie Dettra and Lisa Reiser.
