Trevose Horticultural Society

Celebrating 103 years

Posted

For over 103 years the Trevose Horticultural Society (THS) has been a presence in the Bucks County area and surrounding communities. THS is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Garden Club Federation of PA.

This year’s 103rd annual Standard Flower Show, “Red, White and Bloom”, is Inspired by America’s 250th anniversary with an expansive themed schedule that includes artistic design and horticultural classes and educational exhibits.

The show, hosted by St. Ephrem's Catholic Church, 5400 Hulmeville Rd. in Bensalem is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 21 and 22. Workshops are offered at the Bensalem Senior Center for seniors who enter the flower show’s Sponsored Group Award classes.

At the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, members volunteer and chair, exhibit, and merit ribbons in the forced bulb classes, horticulture displays, and design classes.

Members adopted the Feasterville Firehouse Bell Garden, maintaining the landscape with colorful seasonal plants.

Monthly meetings feature interesting educational topics on a variety of garden-related, environmental or design themed programs and workshops.

Following a brief business meeting and program, members and guests enjoy a “Little Show” and refreshments.

Annual dues include an informative monthly newsletter.

THS meets Tuesdays (except January) at 7 pm at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Rd. in Bensalem. Membership is open to all. Guests are welcome; $5 to observe.
