If you’re turning 65 in the next few months, Medicare may already be on your radar, or it will be soon. For most people, it starts with a steady stream of mail. Cards, brochures, and notices arrive daily, all using different terms and timelines. It doesn’t take long before something that should feel manageable starts to feel confusing.
One thing we’ve learned from working with local seniors is that Medicare is much easier to understand when you learn about it before decisions need to be made. Waiting until the last minute often leads to rushed choices and unnecessary stress. Starting early gives you time to absorb the information, ask questions, and understand how Medicare actually works.
I’m John Freitag, and my wife Stephanie and I built Freitag Family Insurance Agency here in Trevose. We work with neighbors throughout Bucks County, helping them navigate Medicare with clarity and confidence. A large part of that work is education, ensuring people understand their options well before enrollment deadlines arrive.
That’s why we host free monthly Medicare Made Simple events at the Sarah Mitchell Community Center, 1500 Desire Avenue. These are straightforward Medicare 101 sessions designed for people turning 65 in the next three to six months. We cover the basics of Medicare, explain common mistakes, and outline what steps to take and when. There’s no pressure and plenty of time for questions.
Our next event will be held Tuesday, February 24 at 6:30 pm. It’s open to the public and completely free to attend.
Medicare doesn’t come with a user manual, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. A little preparation now can make the transition much smoother later.
