Spotlight: Gerhard’s Appliance

For more than 80 years, Gerhard’s Appliances has been part of the Greater Philadelphia community. While the appliances and technology have changed considerably since the family business opened in 1945, one thing has remained constant: the people behind it.

Today, Gerhard’s is a fourth-generation, family-owned business with a team that extends well beyond its showrooms. Sales consultants, customer service representatives, warehouse teams, delivery crews, installers, service technicians and support staff all play a role in helping appliances make their way from the showroom floor into local homes.

That teamwork is especially important in the appliance business. A new refrigerator or range may begin with a conversation in a showroom, but there are many steps that follow. Inventory needs to be coordinated, products prepared, delivery scheduled and installations planned around the unique needs of each home. When service is needed after the purchase, another part of Gerhard's team steps in.

With locations serving communities throughout Greater Philadelphia, Gerhard’s has grown significantly from the neighborhood appliance store it was in 1945. Even with that growth, the company has remained locally owned and operated.

Many of the people who work at Gerhard’s also live in the communities the company serves, creating a connection that goes beyond appliances. Whether helping a family replace a broken refrigerator, coordinating a new kitchen project or delivering an appliance to a local home, it is the people behind the business who have helped carry Gerhard’s through four generations.
