Heated Bird Baths: One of our “Favorite Things”

Posted

Winter brings a special kind of beauty to our backyards—and it also brings new challenges for our feathered friends. When temperatures drop and natural water sources freeze, providing fresh, accessible water can make a tremendous difference for wild birds. That’s why heated bird baths are one of our favorite things for the winter season!

Birds need water throughout the year, not just during the warmer months. They use it for drinking and bathing, helping keep their feathers clean and in good condition. Clean, healthy feathers are essential for insulation, especially when birds are facing cold winter temperatures.

A heated bird bath keeps water from freezing, creating a dependable source of fresh water when birds need it most. And once you add one to your backyard, you may be surprised by how quickly the birds discover it! Chickadees, cardinals, bluebirds, sparrows and many other backyard visitors may stop by for a drink or a quick splash.

There’s something especially rewarding about watching birds gather around a winter bird bath. Against a snowy backdrop, their activity brings life, movement, and a little extra joy to the coldest days of the year.

At Wild Birds Unlimited, we believe every season offers an opportunity to connect with nature. A heated bird bath is a simple way to make your backyard more welcoming while giving birds an important resource all winter long. It’s practical, beautiful, and—without a doubt—one of our favorite ways to enjoy backyard birding in winter. Stop in while supplies last, available in a small and large size for use in a stand or mount on a deck railing.

Don’t forget our Seed Bells, Characters and Wreaths make a wonderful holiday gift and will be arriving at the beginning of November.  Hope to see you soon!
