Warwick Township Fall Food Truck Festival serves up food and fun

Posted

Fall is about food and fun.

Warwick Township’s Fall Food Truck Festival had both.

The event was held Saturday, Oct. 17, on the campus of Middle Bucks County Technical High School on York Road in Jamison. There were 10 food trucks and a huge selection of vendors on hand.

Food trucks included Philly Soft Pretzel Factory, Humpty’s Dumplings, Thai It Up, Spuddy Buddy Fry Factory, Meat Wagon BBQ, Kono Pizza, Tom’s Traveling Coffee, Hickory Stick Ice Cream, Dirty Dough and Rooster & The Chick.

“I came here for the food trucks,” Denise Hespell said. “They have everything. I’m planning on sampling different things. It’s a great chance to do that.”

There was also face painting, balloon twisting and a petting zoo for children.

“The animals are crazy but fun,” said Stephen Boccella, 7. “I really like them. The goats are my favorites.”

Charlotte Nikander, 3, enjoyed the face painting and getting a balloon.

“This is a really nice event for families,” said her mother, Tiffany. “There’s a lot of fun things for the kids and a lot of different foods to try. We’re really having a good time.”

Melissa Wagner watched while her daughter Juliana, 8, got her face painted.

“As a parent, I really like the variety of activities they have here for the kids,” she said. “She likes getting her face painted and we went over to look at the puppies that are here for adoption.

“And I like that there’s so many different kinds of food. We’ve already had the dumplings and fries and we’re planning on staying longer so we’ll probably try some more and grab some cookies on the way out.”

There were more than 30 unique vendors at the event with handmade goods and unusual products, including clothes, specialty foods, jewelry, accessories, home décor, specialized dog treats, toys and art. Texas Roadhouse had a table, as did the Republican Committee.

Two local animal rescues were on hand: Jax’s Labrador Retriever Rescue and Salfid Rescue.

“This day is an excellent opportunity for groups like us to be seen by the public,” said Sandy Romaszewski, a board member at Jax’s Labrador Retriever Rescue. “It gives us a chance to raise awareness for rescues, to let people know that there are animals that need homes. We also need fosters, volunteers and donations so this is a good way for us to speak to people and let them know the different ways they can contribute if they’re interested.

“This is our first time at this particular event, but we go to many events so we can meet the community and show them what we do and how they can help us.

“We sell merchandise to help fund the dogs in our care, so this is a chance for us to make some money for the dogs as well, which is also good for us.”

The Warwick Township Fire Department had a truck on hand for the community to see.

Danny Gatto and son Kanan, 2, were there for the trucks.

“That’s what he likes to see,” Danny said. “He got to see the fire truck so he’s happy. We’re having a real good time. This is really a good event. Lots of food to choose from and lots of stuff for the kids.”

Music was provided by DJ Bobby Music Entertainment.

The nonprofit Bikers Against Child Abuse was represented at the event.

The event was organized by the Warwick Township Department of Parks, Recreation and Open Space.

“The goal was to really be able to offer an event for the community in Warwick for all ages to attend, not just for kids and not just for adults,” said Dan Sharapan, the director of Parks, Recreation and Open Space for Warwick Township. “We wanted to be able to offer an event for the community where everyone could come together."

“This way, there’s something for everybody. There are so many different types of food, everyone can find something they like and it gives people the opportunity to try something different if they want to do that."

This is the third time the department has held this event.

“The first time we held it at a different location, and it was in May and unfortunately, it was really hot and we had a terrible turnout,” Sharapan said. “We took a couple of years off and then in 2023 we moved it to Middle Bucks Technical School and held it on the first Saturday in November and it was great.

“So, we’re back to hosting it and myself and my staff are helping all day. We’d like to make this an annual event.”
