The Philadelphia Phillies announced some interesting roster moves on Monday afternoon as their offseason picture begins to take shape.
Alec Bohm will not receive a qualifying offer from the Phillies, which could mark an end to the 30-year-old's run with the team.
A qualifying offer would land the Phillies a compensatory pick if Bohm were to reject and sign elsewhere. It's worth noting that it's not entirely unlikely that Bohm eventually re-signs. Kyle Schwarber, Aaron Nola, and J.T Realmuto all declined their offers before eventually coming back. The difference with Bohm is simply career trajectory.
It's been a rollercoaster tenure for the third-baseman, who has had the hottest of hot streaks and some disappointing slumps. The lack of consistency and stable growth is ultimately what kept questions over his head in spite of those explosive breakouts.
The big man batted .249 in 2025, hitting 15 home runs and 88 RBI, and while he still has plenty of value in the Majors, Bohm was never really able to take the leap many viewed as necessary.
Whether he returns or not is anyone's guess, but there is a strong chance that Bohm will no longer be hitting bombs in Philadelphia.
The most notable name here is Garrett Stubbs, who will be testing the free agency waters after being designated for assignment last week.
Stubbs spent five years with the Phillies, appearing in 181 games, During his tenure, hitting a .212 batting average with seven home runs and a .593 OPS in that span.
The 33-year old was demoted to Lehigh Valley last season but was applauded for how he carried himself. He'll now look for a fresh start after making 35 appearances last season.
The team claimed Brett Harris and Shay Whitcomb off waivers. Both are likely depth options who will look to make an impact during Spring Training.
Harris is 28-years-old and bounced between multiple teams this past season. After landing with the Giants and getting some big-league looks, he went .158 at the plate.
As for Whitcomb, he hit .207 in 2026, batting in 4 home runs and 13 RBI in 116 at bats. Another 28-year-old, Whitcomb does have World Baseball Classic experience for Team Korea along with a little more versatility than his former Giants teammate Harris.
Finally, Brad Keller, Felix Reyes, Caleb Kilian, and Johan Rojas have all been reinstated from the 60-day Injured List. The Phillies' 40-man roster now sits at 39.
It will be interesting to see if the Phillies make a call on Johan's future after he was suspended for 80 games after a PED infringement back in March.
